I took that live stream and developed this guide, which breaks down each portion of the live stream, from streaming from any device to creating professional looking broadcasts to streaming and protecting your virtual event. While it’s geared towards events, the ideas can apply to any type of gathering, from small meetups to large conferences. I did an hour-long live broadcast running through everything you need to stream live video. It sucks.īut hopefully with this guide I can offer some insight into ways to achieve the original goals of your event in a virtual space. And for people planning for events later this year, having a virtual Plan B (or even making it Plan A) is now part of the discussion.įirst off, if you’re an organizer that’s had to cancel all the months of work you put into your event – I’m sorry. While every in-person conference, gathering, and meetup has been canceled for the next few weeks and months, many organizers are facing the tough decision of postponing or going virtual. We’re living more virtually now than we ever have before.

Paste the URL that you copied into the Video URL field available.Click on the Session Experience tab found in the top menu, and select the Pre Recorded option from the dropdown list.In the Experience Manager, select the session you would like to embed your video to from the Sessions library.Once your Live Event has been created, you will need to access the Live Settings area to find the URL that applies for your Vimeo live stream.After logging into your Vimeo account select the Upload option to create your Live Event.While this video type can also be embedded directly into your session using the Pre Recorded option within your session, but the steps to finding the correct URL to use will be a bit different. If you are looking to embed a live stream rather than pre-recorded video content, then the Live Event option is what you will need to use within your Vimeo account. Select the Video tab found in the top menu, and paste the URL that you copied into the Video URL field available.In the Experience Manager, select the session you would like to embed your video to from the Sessions library.Once you are ready, select the Share button found to the top right-hand side, and choose the Copy Video Link option from the drop down menu that appears.On the page that follows you will have access to adjust any of the video settings if needed including who has access to watch which can help you to establish security settings on the video if needed.On the page that follows you will see all of the video files that you have uploaded to your Vimeo account - click on the one that you would like to embed within your session.After logging into your Vimeo account, choose the Manage Videos option found in the top menu, followed by My Videos.To find the URL that you will need to use, follow these instructions: Video files hosted on Vimeo can be embedded directly into your sessions using a Video URL. Vimeo allow you to host video files and to create live stream videos - the instructions will vary according to which video type you are using for your event so we have outlined the instructions below that apply to each option. Video files and live stream videos that you are hosting on Vimeo can easily be embedded into your Virtual Event Space using the Video option that you will find when creating your sessions.
